My name is Paula. I am a pet photographer based in West Yorkshire and this is my dog Rain. (Wednesday - Rain) I live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Rain was the inspiration behind my business. Being my first dog and reactive, I began to notice and appreciate her quite, peaceful moments and knew I wanted to capture them. Now I do the same for other dog owners too! Clients often see their dogs in a light they have never seen before after seeing their portraits.
I have created my own unique style. Dogs will be dogs and I absolutely get those bouncy, energetic, tongue out and even reactive dogs on my sessions! But I love to capture the moments that allow not just their personality, but their soul to shine thorugh. All it takes is for a moment where they stop to catch a breath or notice something in the distance, that is where the magic happens.
I like to think that my pet portraits tell a story, evoke emotion and create a moody, surreal feeling to those who view them. This can also be done with energetic dogs, we just have to tailor the session differently. You can check out the FAQ section at the bottom of this page to find out how to manage and prepare these types of dogs for their session.
If you’re searching for a dog photography near you or looking for a dog photographer in the UK who offers a unique, artistic style, my work focuses on moody fine art pet photography with a natural outdoor feel, I photograph dogs across England and Wales and my sessions create beautiful portraits in even the most 'boring' of locations. A lot of the work you see on my site has been taken in very average dog walking spots! So don't worry about having the perfect location.. I've got you covered. Let's create some timeless art of your pet, worthy of being on the wall.
If you’d like to book an outdoor dog photo session with me or find out more about availability, please get in touch. I’d love to create something special for you and your dog as I have done for myself and many others.

Frequently asked questions
Does my dog need to be off lead?
No! In fact, I actually prefer for dogs to be on lead for dog photography sessions. This ensures that they stay in one place and often tend to relax more which allows me to capture beautiful images. The only dogs I photograph off leash are dogs with specific obedience training.
How do your sessions work?
We meet up at a chosen location. Often Newmiller Dam woods in Wakefield but I also travel to other locations. We let your dog have a sniff around and get used to the location, me and my camera. We then begin to position the dog and take photos. We take breaks as we need to. These breaks allow you to let your dog off the lead to burn some energy before popping them back on the lead for more photos. Sessions usually last roughly one hour, sometimes more, sometimes less. Each dog is different but i do not set a time limit on sessions.
How much does it cost?
My standard dog photography session fee is £100. This covers the session itself, editing and your online or in person viewing session. You then choose which images you would like to either purchase as digitals or have printed into beautiful wall art for your home. This gives you the flexibility to spend as little or as much as you like.
Do you offer refunds?
Your session fee secures your slot and is non refundable. I do however, allow date and time changes, no matter the reason. Wall art is only refunded at my discretion.
Do you offer photos of people with their dogs?
My focus mainly on photographing dogs only to get photos in my style. On occasion I do photograph owners with their pets but this will result in a slightly different look to my signature portraits to make sure that everything fits the aesthetic nicely.
Do you photograph other pets?
Yes. I am not only a dog photographer. I photograph other pets to. However, sessions will look different depending on the pet. Cats can be photographed in selected woodlands away from dogs and on a leash aswell as other pets that can be leashed. Secure woodlands and private land would be the best option for this to avoid dogs and their prey drive.
How to I get soulful photos with an energetic dog?
The key to getting these peaceful images with an energetic dog is to wear them out before their session. Whether that be a long walk, a play on a field, lots of enrichment and mental stimulation. You know your dog best and you know how to wear them out properly before their session as each dog has different needs.
Your dogs do not need to do much on their session and I do usually require them to be on a leash. During the session we try not to get to the dog too hyped up. High value treats are a good reward and do not get dogs energy back up each time they are rewarded.
When it comes to tongues out as a lot of our dogs love to do! A peaceful photo is still possible it is all about timing. This just takes a little longer than the more placid dogs. All it takes is for a split second here and there and it to be caught on camera where they close their mouth. There isn't really a time limit on my sessions I always take as long as is needed. And if we are unable to get the photos that we desire I come back out for another session free of charge :)
I do still have some beautiful images of dogs smiling and playing on their sessions. However, If you would like action shots of your dog playing and being their usual silly selves, then my sessions may not be the best fit for you and you may be best suited for a photographer with a different style to mine. There are some beautifully talented ones out there :)
