PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION

Everything you need to know before your pet portrait experience, from session guidance to selecting your fine art wall piece.

HOW YOUR EXPERIENCE UNFOLDS

During the Shoot

Give your dog a relaxed walk before arrival to settle any energy. I understand this is hard with some breeds but giving your dog some fulfilment before the sessions helps us to capture their portraits.

We work at your pet's pace, giving them breaks when needed. My sessions are done ON leash when outdoors as this helps to keep your pet in one place. Sessions may also be done on leash in studio if your pet struggles to stay in one place. I recommend a flat collar or a slip lead to make these easier to edit out of the portraits. Harnesses may be kept on if they are needed but these will remain in the portraits and I will not be able to edit these out for you. This is because they cover so much of your pets body, that fur and markings cannot be replicated.

This also applies to muzzles. Muzzles are more than welcome on my shoots! And I appreciate owners using them where needed. These will be muzzled shoots and will remain on the portraits.

I ask that 2 people minimum attend the shoot when photographing dogs. This gives your dog a person to focus on near me whilst I capture their portraits. I may on occasion also have an assistant with me to help with managing the session, although this is not always available.

I understand that all pets are different, And some need a little extra help. All training tools are welcome in my sessions with no judgement. I just ask that they are used responsibly.

After Your Session

After your session, I’ll carefully review your images and create a preview gallery of the strongest photographs.

You’ll then be invited to your private viewing session at my studio, where we’ll look through your images together and choose the photographs you’d like to have transformed into your finished digital images and/or wall art that is included in your selected collection. You will also have the option to upgrade and spend your credit.

Once your final images are complete you will be invited to your collection appointment where you will receive your wall art order. If you opted for a digital only package, your images may be delivered to you via an online gallery for you to download.

All wall art ordered will be collected from my studio in Wakefield.

A little note about your viewing gallery

The images shown during your viewing session are preview images and are not the finished edits.

At this stage, there may still be things such as people, leads or other distractions visible within the photographs. Don’t worry — these are considered during the final editing process.

When choosing your images, we’ll primarily be looking at things such as your pet´s expression, positioning, composition and the overall feel of the photograph.

Where possible, I may also prepare a sample edit to give you an idea of how your chosen image could look once fully finished. Please note that a sample edit isn’t always possible.

Ordering Your Artwork

Your artwork order is placed during your viewing session, so I recommend having an idea of your preferred budget beforehand if you would like to add wall art or additional wall art to your order. This allows us to choose the artwork options that work best for you and avoids any disappointment on the day.

A range of payment options is available, including PayPal Pay in 3 for eligible customers and a monthly payment plan.

If you choose PayPal Pay in 3, your artwork will be released as soon as it is ready.

If you choose a monthly payment plan, your artwork will be released once the final payment has been received.

Leads & Safety

If you'd like your dog groomed before your session, please make sure this is arranged ahead of your session date. I do carry out some retouching during the editing process, but this is intended for minor finishing touches rather than replacing the need for grooming.

Bring high-value treats like chicken or cheese cut small, plus a favourite toy to help capture curious expressions and reward your pet for their cooperation!

Don’t worry about leads appearing in your photographs. Standard leads are safely used during the session and carefully retouched from your final portraits. I’ll also have a spare slip lead with me should you need one.

I will demonstrate to you in the session how to hold to leash to make it easily edited out.
